Two measures, two stories
Ranking by total records gives you one answer; ranking by OEM plants gives another. Kuala Lumpur is third by total records but fifth by contract plants — because many KL records are marketing companies rather than factories.
For a brand owner looking for a production partner, the OEM column is the one that matters.
Concentration
Selangor holds 705 contract plants — more than double Johor in second place. Add Kuala Lumpur and the central corridor carries over 45% of the country's contract manufacturing capacity.
